WOW two days in a row having sunny skies first thing in the morning. Now if we could just get Mother Nature to take these cold temperatures and put them where the sun -- well you get the picture. It's pretty bad when our temperature this morning was only a few degrees higher than back in Michigan. Even tho it did turn pretty windy (30mph) it did get up to the mid 70's. Weather report over.
Around 9:30 this morning Jutta and I took off for Mexico. She needed to pick up some med's. What a packed place, I think most of the Winter Texans were down there. One of the hardest things about going down there is seeing so many children coming up to you trying to sell their candy or trinkets. Usually there are a couple of them together and they look to be 10 years or older. But today I saw something that really pulled at this grandma's heart. There was this little girl maybe 5 or 6 years old, long black hair with big brown eyes walking ahead of me. She would go up to the woman and just barely touch their arm and hold up her little bracelet's she was trying to sell. There wasn't any adults with this little girl, not even a sibling, so you wonder what kind of life she has. With all the times we've gone down there this is the first time I've seen one so young on the streets by themselves.
Jutta and I went to the Azteca Pharmacy to get the medicine purchase taken care of. Most people like Jutta purchase enough med's to last them until they come back next fall. Another friend ask me to check on a price for Nexium as their insurance will no longer pay for it. Here in the US it's $5.00 a pill, in Mexico it's $2.00. And they wonder why people go across the border.
I found some pictures of crossing over to Mexico that you might like to see.
This is the bridge that we have to walk across. It's a pretty good hike for some people but I've seen them using walkers and scooters. You can drive but most people don't like taking their vehicles over and leaving them parked on the street. This is a pretty picture, trust me this bridge isn't that pretty and the railing are defiantly not that white.
After you get pass the inspection area and the Military Police who all look to be 12 years old and holding these really big guns there is this square. The buildings behind hold dentist offices and in front you can sit and have a cold beverage while you wait.
So Jutta and I walked a few blocks and checked out some of the vendors than decided we had enough and headed for the border.
Larry also had a busy day. They offered a CPR-AED Certification today at our Clubhouse so he wanted to attend that. They only allowed 10 people for a class and I guess they have enough to do one more class.
Linda Cypcar made it home last night after spending three weeks in North Dakota. I thought she would be complaining about the heat of 70 degrees but she said she really got cold last night. She did mention her daughter keeps their house at 70 and it was in the 50's in the trailer this morning. That's why they make space heaters.
One more picture tonight. Friends Donna and Grant were taking their vistors down to Brownsville this afternoon and wouldn't be home till late. So we got to doggy sit Wendy. When we came back from happy hour down at the Bruss's Wendy just looked at us with big sad eyes. She was tied up outside but sooo lonely. So we brought her over to our house and she spent the evening with us.
She sure made herself at home. She also knows we keep the treats under the sink and goes for it.
That's it for tonight. I just checked the Stats and there were lots of new hits today. Welcome: Caldwell NJ, Foley AL, Eaton Rapids MI, Ames IA, Washington DC, and APO Armed Forces Europ U.S. Not sure where the Armed Forces is and does it have something to do with Washington DC - hmmm - maybe I'm giving out military secrets and don't even no it.
And finally a thank you to regular readers from Charlotte MI and Westlake OH.
Till next time............................................
