A little shopping, Mexico Gun Fights

This morning went pretty fast. Linda and I ran down to the dollar store. Needed one item and walked out with many more. Never fails. Just before noon Dale Bruss & Bonnie Quinn pulled up in front and wanted to know if I want to go help Danielle Mayer look at chair fabric, sure never pass up a day out of Retama. So off we went. Unfortunately the store Danielle wanted to go to didn't open until 1pm so we went to another furniture store and a Dollar Tree. Once the store opened we spent a couple of hours there looking at all the fabrics and she was able to find a few to bring home.

I'm sure you've seen on TV the fighting going on in Mexico. Luckily the place we go to called Nuevo Progreso hasn't had the problems that others have. Progreso is a tourist town that relies on visitors coming across the border for probably 90% of their income. We've been down there in May just before we leave here and the majority of the vendors and most of the smaller shops are closed up. So I feel safe in going there. Now Reynosa is another matter, the bridge to cross there is about five miles from here but there's just been too many gun fights. No Thanks!!!

Even tho I don't like seeing these when you cross the border I think it's made a big difference in keeping the town we go to safer.
I didn't take this picture as your not allowed to take any photos of the military. I found this on the web but you see this and guys standing behind sand bags before getting into town. What's not good is seeing these down on a side street with the guys all pointing their guns at something. This only happened once and Larry kept pushing me along so I didn't get a very good look.

The rest of the evening was pretty quiet, we didn't even have a happy hour as the wind was just blowing to hard to be comfortable sitting outside. We did go for our nightly walk with Danielle/Jack/Poppy around the park but it was a struggle when we were walking against the wind.

That's it for now. Welcome Chicago IL and Livingston TX. Thanks to readers from Bacliff TX and Lansing MI. Till next time.............................................

New Eating place & Park walk about

This morning several of us decided to go try a new place out for breakfast. The place is call Alejandro's and it's only a few miles away. Others have tried the dinner menu and said it was good. When we arrived shortly after 8am there wasn't a sole in the place. The restaurant is very nice inside but it lacks seating for more than four people at a table.

That's us in the background. I took pictures of the group but the sun was coming in just right and the photo's didn't turn out very good. Except for this one.
Marilynn was lucky as she was sticking her tongue out but I wasn't fast enough.

Here's the guys table
Here's the ladies

Other than a little mix up on one of the orders the food was good. The Breakfast Special was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, sausage bacon or ham, and toast for $2.75. Sometime we'll have to try their dinner, the menu had mexican, american, and sea food.
This is the patio.
Looks like a nice place to have dinner on a warm evening and there's the larger tables.

While standing outside after returning home I saw this group coming down our street.
Grant, Wendy and Lucie out for their daily constitutional. Not sure who is actually leading but they seem to have worked it out. Actually if you look poor little Lucie the cat is getting the short end of the stick.

We had the 3rd annual Village Walk-about this afternoon. Once a year anyone wanting to open their carriage houses and homes to the public could. The developer furnishes popcorn, hot dogs and pop up on the patio for everyone. The turn out was great and hopefully it helps with a few sales. The sales here in the park this season has been really good, last I new there was 20 lots sold. For the way the economy is that's pretty darn good.

That's about it for today. Welcome newbies from Houston TX and Harrisburg PA who I'm sure are Kathy and Phil Detweiler. And thanks to a regular reader in Mt Pleasant MI.

Till next time............................................

Butterfly Park

Yesterday started out sunny but a little cool. Good grief, it's starting to happen, something I never wanted to experience again, 50 degrees is turning into "cool". NO, I refuse to allow this, cool temperatures are in the 70's, 60's are cool and 50's you bring out the long johns, winter coats and wool mittens. Of course we've had a few days of even lower temp's but I am armed with full combat gear, two space heaters, furnace set for my comfort zone, dressed in layers from heavy clothes to super heavy clothes. Now that's during the day, night time is another story which is basically all of the above along with my four layers of blankets. Larry won't let me buy a electric blanket, I have a bad habit of covering him up during the night, I keep telling him I'm not responsible for my actions while I'm sleeping. But seriously, any person that only sleeps with a sheet on them, deserves what they get and if that generates more body heat spreading over to the other side of the bed I say, hurray.

So back to the beginning of my story, the day did start sunny and with no wind, so we decided to go for a bike ride. I've wanted to get over to the Butterfly Park which is just a couple of miles from us.
They have their own nursery that you can purchase plants that do well in our area. I've been wanting to find a climbing vine to plant on our fence behind our rig.

Between the excess water from our irrigation system (that's another story) and the hard frosts this winter the climbing vines were all zapped (in the whole park) and the lawn people finally ripped them out. The park volunteer was really helpful on telling us what would grow fast and attract the butterflies.
This is the entrance to the park.
The columns are the entrance to the trails. The volunteer suggested we come back towards the end of March to walk the trails, the plants are just starting to come back and the butterflies will be out.

This palapa would be a nice place to sit and just enjoy the peace and quiet.

Here's the beginning site for the new Butterfly Park Welcome Center. The volunteer was telling us about how nice the center will be and behind it will have planting beds that are geared to attract certain butterflies. The guy said it's suppose to be completed by next Sept but so far we've never seen anything in this area completed by the expected date.

Really didn't do much the rest of the day. Did some walk abouts around our park which takes at least a hour to do after stopping to visit with neighbors. Cypcars invited us over for happy hour so we joined them along with our "wall" friends.

After dinner I decided it was just to nice to sit inside so made a couple of trips around our block to get some exercise. I ran into Pat Olson and her SIL Ann who is here visiting from Denver so made a few trips with them. I'd just gotten home and Jack Mayer stopped so joined him and Poppy for one more trip around the whole park.

So that's it for now. Welcome new readers from Villa Rica GA and Blanco TX and special thanks to regular readers from Roscommon MI and Bay Village OH.

Mexico Trip & Doggy Sitting

WOW two days in a row having sunny skies first thing in the morning. Now if we could just get Mother Nature to take these cold temperatures and put them where the sun -- well you get the picture. It's pretty bad when our temperature this morning was only a few degrees higher than back in Michigan. Even tho it did turn pretty windy (30mph) it did get up to the mid 70's. Weather report over.

Around 9:30 this morning Jutta and I took off for Mexico. She needed to pick up some med's. What a packed place, I think most of the Winter Texans were down there. One of the hardest things about going down there is seeing so many children coming up to you trying to sell their candy or trinkets. Usually there are a couple of them together and they look to be 10 years or older. But today I saw something that really pulled at this grandma's heart. There was this little girl maybe 5 or 6 years old, long black hair with big brown eyes walking ahead of me. She would go up to the woman and just barely touch their arm and hold up her little bracelet's she was trying to sell. There wasn't any adults with this little girl, not even a sibling, so you wonder what kind of life she has. With all the times we've gone down there this is the first time I've seen one so young on the streets by themselves.

Jutta and I went to the Azteca Pharmacy to get the medicine purchase taken care of. Most people like Jutta purchase enough med's to last them until they come back next fall. Another friend ask me to check on a price for Nexium as their insurance will no longer pay for it. Here in the US it's $5.00 a pill, in Mexico it's $2.00. And they wonder why people go across the border.

I found some pictures of crossing over to Mexico that you might like to see.
This is the bridge that we have to walk across. It's a pretty good hike for some people but I've seen them using walkers and scooters. You can drive but most people don't like taking their vehicles over and leaving them parked on the street. This is a pretty picture, trust me this bridge isn't that pretty and the railing are defiantly not that white.

This is the entrance after crossing the bridge.
After you get pass the inspection area and the Military Police who all look to be 12 years old and holding these really big guns there is this square. The buildings behind hold dentist offices and in front you can sit and have a cold beverage while you wait.

So Jutta and I walked a few blocks and checked out some of the vendors than decided we had enough and headed for the border.

Larry also had a busy day. They offered a CPR-AED Certification today at our Clubhouse so he wanted to attend that. They only allowed 10 people for a class and I guess they have enough to do one more class.

Linda Cypcar made it home last night after spending three weeks in North Dakota. I thought she would be complaining about the heat of 70 degrees but she said she really got cold last night. She did mention her daughter keeps their house at 70 and it was in the 50's in the trailer this morning. That's why they make space heaters.

One more picture tonight. Friends Donna and Grant were taking their vistors down to Brownsville this afternoon and wouldn't be home till late. So we got to doggy sit Wendy. When we came back from happy hour down at the Bruss's Wendy just looked at us with big sad eyes. She was tied up outside but sooo lonely. So we brought her over to our house and she spent the evening with us.
She sure made herself at home. She also knows we keep the treats under the sink and goes for it.

That's it for tonight. I just checked the Stats and there were lots of new hits today. Welcome: Caldwell NJ, Foley AL, Eaton Rapids MI, Ames IA, Washington DC, and APO Armed Forces Europ U.S. Not sure where the Armed Forces is and does it have something to do with Washington DC - hmmm - maybe I'm giving out military secrets and don't even no it.

And finally a thank you to regular readers from Charlotte MI and Westlake OH.

Sam's Club, a luncheon, Trash

Yesterday morning Larry and I decided to finally go over and renew our Sam's Club card. It's been well over a year since the card expired and we've been meaning to get over there but, don't want to rush into things. So it only costs us a $100 to get back out of that store, which really isn't bad for us.

There's something about that area that I just get totally turned around and no matter what Larry says, I'm usually pretty good at keeping my bearings. Ok, so I made one small mistake of having him take a ramp and we were heading into Indianapolis's airport, with our 85 ft train but he was able to make that illegal U-Turn with no problem across four lanes, so no big deal right. Larry always likes to take the freeway but I convinced him to take the back way. I was positive I new the way. Everything was going fine until things weren't looking as familiar as they did last year and Larry insisted I get the GPS out. I was sure I was right on track until that darn GPS came up and said we were going East instead of West, not sure how that happened. But really, WHY would a city build a Sam's on the corner of Jackson Ave and Jackson Rd, how stupid is that, no wonder people get confused.

So that afternoon Jutta needed to go to Sam's so I rode along. Forgot to get my choc chip cookie mix that morning. When we pulled out of the parking lot I figured, no problem, just did this route two hours ago, piece of cake right, WRONG. Won't go into detail, lets just say north and south have been changed in that area and we saw a whole different area than I saw that morning. Good thing she had a GPS too. Now it's a challenge so one of these days I'll go try it again. I'm pretty sure I know what I did wrong the first two times but just in case I'll keep the GPS handy.

This morning I offered to helped Donna and Dale make the fixings for their Travel Supreme Luncheon they were hosting at the Clubhouse here. So at 9:30, Donna, Dale, Bonnie, Barb and I started getting everything ready and finished just before the people started arriving. Bonnie and I slipped out and in talking to them later it sounded like everyone enjoyed the lunch and especially having it there at the clubhouse. So much so that they have already agreed to host it next year.

Here's Dale, Donna & Barb working on the clean up
And here's myself and Barb. I made the mistake of letting Grant use my camera, I prefer being behind the camera and not in front of it. Can't you tell with the death grip Barb has on me.

This afternoon we had happy hour at our place and all crowded behind the trailer to keep in the sun. The wind was pretty strong and it was only in the 60's but the sun was out and felt great.

I have another 4-legged resident to introduce you too. His name is Trash and he arrived yesterday with his dad Jim Brumfield from their home in Meridian MS. Trash's mom Hazel wasn't able to make the trip with them so it was just the guys. Trash is a huge lovable 100+ pound Choc lab who at times believes he should be lap dog.

Look at that face and those eyes. He just loves to lean on you and have his ears scratched. Just make sure your braced good before he starts learning or you'll end up on the ground. Now you may be wondering why his parents would saddle this big adorable guy with such a name. Well Jim & Hazel own a Waste Management in Meridian MS, hence the name Trash.

Tonight Dale, Danielle and I made an executive decision that we didn't want to fix dinner so off to IHOP we went. Normally this place is packed but they seated us right away. While waiting for our food we noticed the big sign that said "Senior special" buy one meal get second meal free. Unfortunately this only from 3pm to 6pm and we sat down at 6:20.

That's it for tonight. Our new readers tonight are from Mesa AZ, Ft Lauderdale FL, and Santa Fe TX. Our regular visitors are from Mercedes TX and Southgate MI. Welcome and thank you all for stopping by. Till next time..................................

A day of Shopping & new tires for the trailer

This morning I went to Mercedes (1/2 hr away) with Pat Olson, Pat Garvey, Ann Olson and Marilynn Orthober to the Outlet Mall. It was a perfect day weather wise to go to a outside mall. They said there's 140 stores, not sure if that's right but there were more open than last year. I'm not sure you get any great deals but we were there just to enjoy looking. Here's a couple of pictures.

While I was gone Larry decided it would be a good time to put the new tires on the trailer. We purchase six Michelin XPS Ribs and yes I had to ask him what we got. He knows I hate watching him do things like taking six tires off at the same time and having my home being supported with only the Big Foot Levelers. He found a place close by that would put the tires on the rims so it took most of the day to finish. Sorry no pictures. At least now I will feel safer when we pull out of here. We've had several residents here that have had blow outs and it can really cause a lot of damage to the trailer.

Danielle and Jack invited everyone over to their lot tonight for a welcome back happy hour for Jim Brumfield. He has his own business and this is the first time he's been able to get down here on his lot. Tomorrow I will get over to Jim's and take a picture of his dog Trash so I can introduce you to him.

That's it for today. A couple new readers today, Grand Prairie TX, Huntersville, NC and San Juan TX. I heard from our Troy MI readers, the Taylor's. We met Mark, Mary and their daughter Melissa last summer in Frankenmuth MI while attending an RV Net Rally. Had a good time and hope we see them again next summer. It's neat finding out who are readers are.

So tonight's almost daily reader is from Mission TX. Actually there are several hits showing Mission so I'm assuming these are our friends here in the park.

Relaxing Day at Retama

What a perfect day. It started out a bit cloudy but by mid morning the sun was out and the temperature was rising. We went for a walk around 9am and met up with Jack Mayer and one of our favorite four legged friends Poppy, the back side just wiggles like crazy with excitement on seeing us, (Poppy's not Jacks). But than I guess I never check out ---- ok, never mind, won't go there.

It was such a beautiful morning I just couldn't stand staying home so while Larry was getting ready to watch the MSU Basketball game I decided to go for a bike ride. David Cypcar was out and about so we just did a short ride around the RV Park next door. I noticed there are quite a few new Michigan plates over there. Will need to go over sometime and see if we can't catch them outside.

When I got home Larry was sitting out side working on soldering something and sputtering to himself. I guess the TV Station changed and MSU wasn't being shown. Times like that it's better to just keep on riding down the street for a little while.

I got to thinking today that our Big Truck people haven't really gotten together much the last few weeks, in fact almost all season. Last year we had a standard Happy Hour days of Tuesday and Thursdays at the clubhouse. This year it just hasn't worked out with either something else going on at the clubhouse or it was just to cold and rainy to get out. So I went around and checked with the head of each household (guess who that was) to see about getting together today and buying buckets of chicken for dinner. It was unanimous, so about 4:00 Bonnie, Dale and I went over to Church's Chicken and order enough to feed 18 of us. It was a simple meal and very little clean up, just what we like.

Tonight it was still just too nice (78 degrees) to go inside, so we went for another walk with Jack, Danielle and Poppy. The day was ended by sitting outside at their lot until the
mosquitoes made their appearance. But we did enjoy seeing the moon and stars, it's been a long time since we've been able to do that.

Several new readers today on the blog, Kingwood TX, Aransas Pass TX, Spring TX and Sun City AZ. And our (almost) daily reader of the day is from Troy Michigan.

Guess that's it for today. Not a overly exciting day but it's one of the reasons we enjoy coming down here. Perfect weather, good friends and relaxing. What more can a person ask for. Till next time...................................

BBQ Patio Party

Thanks to Mike Rhodes the owner of our park we had a nice dinner and music on the clubhouse patio last night. Rudy's catered the meal which is one of the best BBQ places in the area. Lots of food, chicken, pulled pork, sausage, potato salad, cold slaw, baked beans, bread and pudding for desert. Everything was good and there was plenty for anyone wanting seconds.

Here are some pictures.

Here's Danielle, Dale, Bonnie, Gail, Mark (hidden) and Jack

Gail was right in the Western Theme, right down the the spurs

Pat and Mariylnn are checking out Jim and Gary in their new duds

Last but not lease here's my very own cowboy

Even tho it was pretty cloudy the temperature was nice. After dark it got a little cool but I'm sure the beverages and dancing helped to keep people warm.

Guess that's it for today. My welcome goes out to new friends in Kingwood Texas.

I'm also going to start saying thank you to our readers that link on almost daily. The first one goes to friends in Saint Helen Michigan who ever you are.

Till next time............................................................ Happy Trails to you

Breakfast out, bike ride, Home tour

This morning we decided to go out to breakfast at Angels with friends Gary, Marilynn and David. David is still playing bachelor while Linda is in ND for a few more days. For once Angels wasn't too busy, we must have hit it just at the right time. Larry and I got the breakfast specially, 2-eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99. Sure can't beat the price, I think the most expensive meal was $5.95 and that would feed us for two days.

When we got back home we decided to take a ride in the State Park. They are having a family day and even tho it was still early (9am) it was starting to get busy. Plus they had the grand opening of their new building just inside the park. I forgot my camera but the building is nice with lots of pictures and descriptions of the animals spotted in the park. Some I have seen, some I would like to see and some I hope I never see.

I was going through my pictures on my system trying to clean it up a little. How many hundreds of bird pictures does one person need. I came across some of back home so thought I'd share them.
This is the Island that has the Grand River running along each side. Great place for a walk or riding your bike to the end. Families come and picnic along the banks and toss their fishing lines in. Just a really neat place to spend a quiet summer afternoon. Back around 1900 there use to be seven islands with hotels, parks and even a roller coaster going from one to another.
I found this old picture on the internet. The article said that Grand Ledge was the biggest attraction in Michigan and they even built a special train depot just to handle the visitors. Too bad a major ice dam destroyed all but one small island.
Within a short bike ride from where we stay is Fitzgerald Park, the home of the Ledges. There is over a mile of trails like the picture above that runs along the Grand River. Not only does it have these trails but if your one of those brave people you can do some rock climbing. News articles say this is the Seventh largest in the state of outcropping of rocks.

Here's another picture taken this winter of the island. Luckily I'm sitting here in temperatures of 70's and just enjoying the pretty snow picture with all my doors and windows open.
And my last picture My sister Nadene sent this too me this fall and she gets to look at this every day from her office window. I have it on my desk top, just think it is the prettiest picture.

That's it for today. Welcome friends from Queensland, Australia whoever you are.
Till next time........................................

Crafty ladies, serious conversation, And a GRRRR

Some of the ladies here in the park have been busy making dolls that will be given to different organizations. Some will go to the local police and fire depts and some to the Children's Hospital. I believe Donna said there will be around 50 dolls completed that hopefully will help little ones during a hard time. Here's a few pictures:
Below is one of the dolls before the hair
And here is one finished for a little girl. Pretty cute.
While I was walking back from the craft room I spotted Bill Bevington and David Cypcar doing what most people do best here, Talking
It was getting time to head for the airport to pick Dale Bruss up who was coming home from Atlanta. She needed to be with her parents for the last couple of weeks and Mark had a Dr's appt. I ran into Jack Mayer and he volunteered to ride along to the airport with me since he said he's never been there. Little did he know that he would be the "baggage boy". We arrived just in time for him to get Dales luggage off the belt and a quick drive back to Retama just as it started to rain. Unfortunately a few hours later Grant came over to inform us of this:
You might have to click on picture to enlarge it to see the wonderful flat tire. I'm pretty sure the nail (which I swear was a foot long) came from our park. Lots of construction going on and the workers aren't very good on checking for items left in street. I think it's time to get a hold of the owner of the park and see about getting the street sweeper out again. Larry ran over (actually took the Kenworth) to the Auto Parts and got a patch. It wasn't the best day for doing anything outside with a steady drizzle but within a hour it was really raining hard. Ok so maybe the nail wasn't quite a foot long:

That's it for today. Hello to Tecumseh OK and Magnolia TX people. A new one also from Mission today. As I said before, I can only see the town, state, country on the Stats but it's fun seeing new ones. Till next time....................................

Off to Mexico and Friends Leave

This morning we headed off to Mexico with Donna and Grant. Unfortunately with the sun being out and warm temperatures I think almost all of the Winter Texans in the RGV had the same idea. The parking lots where full and lots of people crossing the bridge. It was close to noon by the time we got there so we went to our favorite eating place called "Old Town Cafe". This is the place where you buy one Margarita and get the second one free. I have found the first one is pretty darn weak but the second one makes up for it. This is a pretty good size restaurant and it was almost full but the waiters who are all dressed in tuxes did a good job of keeping the chips coming. The food was good, I had the taco salad and Larry ordered the shrimp tacos, I don't remember what Donna and Grant had but I do remember it looked good too.

After lunch we made our way down the street and I was able to find some things for our great nieces. Still have lots of things to get but that will call for a girls day there. While walking around we did run into several folks from our park. Can't believe we actually saw them with so many people down there. Finally we had enough and made our normal liquor purchase than back over the bridge.

When we got back we found out that Kathy and Phil Dieweiler pulled out this afternoon and are heading for PA. They have had some challenges on getting out of here to head for his job but hopefully they have a safe trip. With the winter storms it was probably a good thing they were delayed. Wouldn't want to be up there in that kind of weather in a 5th wheel. I know Kathy reads this blog so just want to say we're sorry we missed you today and keep us posted.

I had forgotten I had my camera or I would of taken some pictures. But I did catch this on the way home.
I also got a picture today from Linda Cypcar. She flew home to North Dakota to help one of her daughters who was having surgery. I love my girls but I think I'd fly everyone down here rather than do this:
She will probably come back next week and just rave on how warm it is when it's only 70 degrees. Even tho I think it will probably take her a few days to thaw out.

That's it for tonight. Welcome two new readers from Dayton & Humble Texas. Till next time.....

Shopping Day

This morning Marilynn and I went over to the Mall for a day away from the our homes. Larry needed to go over to the other trailer before we left to turn the heat on, turn the water off and put the hoses in the shed. There's a Freeze Warning out for tonight. We really are getting tired of these cold nights. As I said yesterday it was perfect out but around midnight the cold front came through. The wind was something else and from talking to different people everyone sure felt it.

So Marilynn and I arrived at the Mall only to find out we had a good 20 minutes before the stores open. One of the coffee shops was open so we got a cup and just sat to do some people watching. There are some really weird people out there. As I've said before you sure couldn't tell there was a recession here. Notice several new strip mall under construction while driving to the mall and there isn't one empty store front in the mall. This is a pretty good size one with well over a 100 stores, a place that our grand-daughter Anissa would love to spend a day. Especially if she had gr-ma's credit card. Around 11:00 we got a call from Pat and she along with Helen and her SIL Ann were heading there and wanted to meet for lunch. Decided on a place called Lube's where you can get a full meal (buffet style) or just a salad which we did and it was really good.
After a little more shopping and a stop at Stein Marts we called it a day and arrived home around 3pm.

Doug Franks had rotator cuff surgery early this morning and Jutta said things went well. He's in quite a bit of pain and basically counting the minutes between each pain pill. They found out this week that they will be work camping this summer at Adventure Land Park in IA so he needs to get better fast. Another friend here, Kathleen Gomez had a knee replacement done today. Bob said tonight she would be in the hospital for a couple more days than rehab. Man the bones are starting to fall apart in the neighborhood.

We had a nice quiet happy hour with Donna & Grant tonight. They've been pretty busy the last few weeks getting ready for company and then entertaining them. As it turned out their company came from Florida and they are in the same park as our friends John and Noreta Ray who we worked with in Slidell LA after Katrina. What a small world, especially in our RV world. So even tho it was a bit chilly we put on our heavy coats and sat in the sun for a little while.

That's it for today, want to welcome readers from Franklin TN, Las Vegas NV and Carstairs, Alberta Canada, hope you enjoy my ramblings. Till next time.................................

Sugar Fix & Happy Valentine

Yesterday was the monthly breakfast up at the clubhouse which we always help with. I think the count was over 70 and we had them all served and pretty much done within a half hour. Not bad. We start shortly after 7am getting tables and chairs set up, the skillet's and electric fry pans hot and lots and lots of eggs scrambled. Jim Olsen is in charge of the pancakes and sausages , Dick Goodman has the scrambled eggs and the rest of us took care of coffee, juices and serving.

After breakfast we had to run over to the other trailer as our renters where leaving that day. That afternoon we didn't do too much but that night we had made plans with Doug and Jutta Franks to go to Ruby's for dinner. This place isn't fancy, tables are big picnic tables and 10ft long tables but the pulled pork is really really good.

Today was a perfect weather day, sunny and very warm. We went over to the other trailer again first thing, Larry needed to fix a water leak behind the toilet and I wanted to do some cleaning. The people left it in pretty good shape but I always like to go in and do my own before new renters. Which they will be here this week. It took a little longer than Larry thought and after a trip to Camping World for a part we both finished up by noon.

This afternoon we were invited over to Lon and Pat Garvey's place to celebrate Lon's birthday. Pat & Lon are almost neighbors of our in Michigan. They live in Bellevue MI that's about a hour from us. We had some good cake and ice cream and had a deep discussion on a bug that was crawling across their patio. You wouldn't think a little bug could entertain 20 adults but what can I say.

Tonight we went out for chicken with Jack & Danielle Mayer than we "had" to go check out the new DQ that just opened. I think everyone and their brother had the same idea as the place was packed. After 45 minutes of waiting we finally went up to find out what's going on only to find that they lost our order. Oh well, it came out soon after that and it's not like we are ever in a big hurry.

So we both got our sugar fix today. We feel miserable from all the sweets and food the last two days so I think we'd better get out on the bikes tomorrow.

I checked the Stats tonight and want to welcome a new reader from Bedford Nova Scotia. Also one from Gilbert AZ. Thanks for visiting and hope you come back often.

Want to wish everyone a Happy Valentine, especially to my kids and grandkids.
Till next time.......................................

The Big Move

The rain finally quit during the night and this morning even tho it was only in the 40's the sun was out. We're suppose to have a few days of sun before another front hits us.

Jack Mayer got back yesterday afternoon with their new 43ft New Horizon. It sure is pretty and once they get settled I'll take some pictures of the inside. But today was moving day. Jack pulled the new trailer down at the end of the street and Larry backed their old trailer next too it. Take a look at the pictures below.

Once the trailer doors were lined up Jack had some boards that he laid across so we wouldn't have to go up and down the steps. Sure makes things easier. Danielle and Jack worked on their bedroom items and I started in the kitchen. Danielle was sure it would take two days but I told her we would be done today. Got started about 10am and finished just before 5pm. While Jack/Danielle put the new trailer on their lot. we took the old one and parked it on a friends lot. It was a long full day and Danielle has some things to put away but the majority of it is done. But like I told her she'll move things around a dozen times before she finds the right place.

Friends Kathy and Phil Dieweiler are still with us. They have had some challenges with the lights and levelers on the trailer so won't be leaving for PA until mid week. Actually it was a good thing, if they would have left here when they planned they would of been right in the middle of the latest snow storm. Speaking of snow, did you see where Dallas got over 10 inches of snow yesterday. All I could think of was going over some of those three & four tier highways. I'm scared to death when we go over them in clear weather.

Time to quit. I'm sure I'll sleep good tonight but right now want to watch the Opening of the Olympics. Or at least some of it. Till next time............................................
