The Alamo Dec 2009

Our morning started out fairly early. We decided to starting walking towards the Alamo and look for a place to have breakfast. The streets are very narrow but this didn't seem to be a problem to the large buses, they just flew by us. We found that places don't open very early which seems to be the way of Texas. Back in MI everything is pretty much opened by 8am but here it's 9 or 10am. We finally found a small cafe and since that was pretty much the only place open we went for it. Larry and I like trying this little off the beaten track places but not sure how our friends felt. Anyway it turned out to be a nice place and the food was very good. Here's Dave, Larry and Marilynn waiting for our numbers to be called so we could go back up and get it.

This huge Christmas Tree is right in front of the entrance of the Alamo. I wish we could have seen it all lite up at night.
Here is the entrance to the Alamo.
The grounds here are so pretty. I wish the day was warmer and we had more time to just walk around and enjoy this place.
Here is a unbelievable Live Oak Tree. It was planted in 1914 in the Convento Courtyard. It took two pictures to get this massive tree and than I wasn't able to get it all.

That's it for today. Tomorrow I will post some pictures of Buckhorn & Texas Ranger Museum. So make sure you come back.
