The Big Move

The rain finally quit during the night and this morning even tho it was only in the 40's the sun was out. We're suppose to have a few days of sun before another front hits us.

Jack Mayer got back yesterday afternoon with their new 43ft New Horizon. It sure is pretty and once they get settled I'll take some pictures of the inside. But today was moving day. Jack pulled the new trailer down at the end of the street and Larry backed their old trailer next too it. Take a look at the pictures below.

Once the trailer doors were lined up Jack had some boards that he laid across so we wouldn't have to go up and down the steps. Sure makes things easier. Danielle and Jack worked on their bedroom items and I started in the kitchen. Danielle was sure it would take two days but I told her we would be done today. Got started about 10am and finished just before 5pm. While Jack/Danielle put the new trailer on their lot. we took the old one and parked it on a friends lot. It was a long full day and Danielle has some things to put away but the majority of it is done. But like I told her she'll move things around a dozen times before she finds the right place.

Friends Kathy and Phil Dieweiler are still with us. They have had some challenges with the lights and levelers on the trailer so won't be leaving for PA until mid week. Actually it was a good thing, if they would have left here when they planned they would of been right in the middle of the latest snow storm. Speaking of snow, did you see where Dallas got over 10 inches of snow yesterday. All I could think of was going over some of those three & four tier highways. I'm scared to death when we go over them in clear weather.

Time to quit. I'm sure I'll sleep good tonight but right now want to watch the Opening of the Olympics. Or at least some of it. Till next time............................................

Cabin Fever - Other Countries

I've been sitting here trying to think of something to write about. As another major snow storm blankets the East I guess you don't want to hear about my toes being cold because it's only 52 degrees out. Course the two electric heaters are keeping it warmer inside.

So what can I write about. I could tell you what it's like being stuck inside a 40ft 5th wheel for days. You think the northerners get cabin fever, there's a new meaning to that word when you live in 400 square feet. About two days is a exceptional length of time before the little under the breath "remarks" start. By day three the remarks start slipping out a little louder. By day four it's the silence and luckily we have never reached day five.

I was looking at the Statcounter for our blog. One of the things you can look at is the location Stat which tells me what city and state that someone logged in from. It's so interesting to see a new location especially when it's from another country. So far we have viewers from 18 States, British Columbia, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Germany, Africa and Romania. I know one of the Germany hits were from our friends that were there over Christmas but not sure of the other one. When I get a new hit from another country I do a search to see what the town is like. Here's a couple of photos.

Here's a picture of the Palace Hotel in Manchester United Kingdom

Here's a picture of Zalau, Salaj, Romania

So that's about all for tonight. Till next time...............................

Happy Birthday to my #1 Friend

Today is my hubby's birthday. I won't give out his age but if you were reading the old blog last year you saw the pictures of the party for his 60th. This afternoon we had a special happy hour to celebrate Larry's and Mark Bruss's birthday. Marks is tomorrow and again won't give away his age, only to say he has been on Medicare for a year.

Here's a picture of the birthday boys.

The guys table

The gals table

And we couldn't have had such a great party without the cooks who made these wonderful fattening cakes. Thank you Kathy and Bonnie.

So everyone enjoyed the cakes, along with Choc. & Butter Pecan Ice Cream and I don't no about the rest but that was our dinner. Actually Larry just headed for the cupboard for a bag of pop corn so he's finishing off the birthday with his favorite evening snack.

We had a beautiful day to have happy hour out on the patio at the clubhouse. So wish it would stay this way but forecast for the rest of the week are highs in the mid 50's. Almost 35 degrees difference. But the alternative is some of that white stuff and I sure don't want to see that. That's it for tonight, till next time........................

Biking, Shopping,

Had a nice bike ride in the park this morning with David, Gary and Marilynn. I took the camera and did try to get some pictures of the birds but every time I zoomed in it turned out blurry. I keep hoping to see the bobcat but so far he stays out of sight. So anyway here is a few pictures of the birds.

Here's a Baltimore Oreo, wish the picture was clearer.

There are two different ones here. Click on picture and zoom in.
The orange one is the Oreo again and the yellow is the Kisskadee.
And of course I had to put a picture of our bike riding pals on.
I've been looking for a small sweeper for the house. My central vac system just doesn't pick up the white lint on this darn blue carpet. So figured it would be cheaper to buy a sweeper than new carpet. Sears had a sale going so when David asked if we wanted to go check them out I was ready. Boy what a different, should of done this a long time ago.

I've been trying to think of something different for the blog. There isn't to many exciting things going on in our every day life and I'm sure your not interested in what time we got up in the morning and what we had for breakfast. We had a discussion while riding on this and a suggestion was brought up on taking pictures of the different types of poop found in the park. But I'm sure I can come up with something a little more "solid". Get it - poop - solid. Sometimes I just crack myself up. Ok enough on that.

But must go now. Promised Bill last night I would pick Kathy up at the airport this afternoon since he's working. Till next time...................................

Picture Perfect Day

What a difference. The last two days have been cloudy, rainy and just plain Yuk!!! Today was bright blue skies, temp's in the 70's and no wind. We went for our first bike ride shortly after 8am. I wanted to go to the Butterfly park that's just a couple of miles from here. We got there but they have a dirt road that was totally mud, so we decided we would come back some other day. So we continued our ride and just enjoyed being out in the sun.

Danielle and I made a trip to the Dollar Store this afternoon. We went to a different one so this took a good hour to walk around and check each isle out. Larry spent the afternoon outside in his favorite chair soaking up the sun and helping Doug/Jutta switch the seats in their truck.

Happy Hour was over to Gary and Marilynn's place tonight. As always lots of laughs. After dinner (hot dogs on the grill) we went for another ride which many other people were doing. The bike path outside the park was pretty busy.

So that's about it for today. Kind of boring but that's fine. Till next time.........................

Rain Rain go away

It started raining last night and around 5am the clouds really opened up and it poured most of the morning. Not sure how much we got. That's the one thing about this area, the weather report on the local news stations are next to nothing. Back in Michigan most of the news starts out with the weather report and gives everything in great detail. Here's it's like a filler of the news report and basically gives the highs and lows of the next week. Anyway here's a picture from our back window of the place behind us. Luckily our streets here have great drainage so we don't have standing water on the streets or lots.
This afternoon we had Happy Hour up at the clubhouse. It was a combination birthday party for Sheri Rhodes who as she said can officially get the senior coffee at McDonalds and a "see you down the road" going away party for Phil and Kathy Detweiler. They are leaving on Saturday for a job in PA. I forgot my camera but you have seen many pictures of our HDT group.

Last night we went out to dinner with Donna & Grant to BJ's Sports Grill. Very nice place and I'm sure it's hopping on game days with the all the big TV's all around.

Guess that's it for today. Looks like we have one more day of clouds and rain than we get some sun. Can't wait!! Till next time..................................

Meet Cookie & Shopping

This will be my last post of our 4 legged friends. This is Cookie who lives with Kathleen and Bob Gomez. After some years of running with wild dogs in the desert she was rescued and eventually came to live with them. Cookie loves to come to Happy Hour's to have her belly rubbed by everyone. She spent the day with us yesterday, Dave/Linda Cypcar are doggy sitting while her parents went to see family in OR and Linda's brother is at Padre Island for a week. They went to see them, so we did the doggy walks and pooper scooper (Larry's) jobs. See what I mean, loves her tummy rubbed.
Look at her. Could anyone not fall in love with those eyes.

Today Danielle Mayer and I went shopping for a love seat. It's not easy trying to find furniture for a trailer, especially when you haven't even seen it yet. Jack/Danielle purchased a New Horizon and Jack is currently up in Kansas getting it. There's been a few gliches that needed to be taken care of but hopefully he will be back soon. Anyway Danielle has swatches of the window treatment so that helps finding the right color and she knows what style she wants, it's just trying to find a normal size. It seems around here everyone has super size furniture in their homes. But we did find a couple that are really nice and should look good.

Now a little sad news about one of our 4-legged friends. Molly who was the first one I posted about had to be put down today. The last couple of weeks she's really gotten worse and this weekend she couldn't even stand. So today Dave and Linda took her to the vets. She'll be missed
.
I guess that's it for now. Weather has turned nasty with cold nights (40's) and cloudy cold days (50's). I think we're suppose to have this until the end of the week. Ugh!! I want my 90's. Till next time......................
