School night with Gr-ma/pa

Wow, where did this week go? Can't even say we were all that busy or did anything really exciting. We went for a drive on Tuesday, no place really special but that took up a good part of the day since we didn't decide to leave until after 10am.

Oh, Larry called the place back on Wednesday about the remote starter for the generator. Luckily someone different answered the phone and this guy must of went to the school of Customer Service. As it turned out it was a easy fix, something about one of the wires wasn't right and in no time we could be inside the trailer and start the generator. How nice this will be when we stop at a Walmart for the night and Larry doesn't have to go outside before day break to start it. I may even move this job over to the Pink Side of jobs. Na, my luck it would quit the first time and once you move a job from blue to pink it's hard to move it back.

We picked up the grandson after school yesterday to spend the night. Mom was out of town so this was a first for us to get Darrius ready for school. Things were going good, Darrius and Sydney played outside with just a few "tiff's".

David decided it would be a good day to get the pools out
and filled since the weather is suppose to really be warm next week.

Sydney was home for the afternoon and she wanted to go swimming. Now keep in mind the big pool was still being filled. Can you imagine how cold that water was but Syd went in and actually went underwater. Brrr. We picked Darrius up and of course the first thing he wanted to do was go swimming. Sorry kid no suit but I told him he could walk in the little pool but couldn't get his shorts wet. Well that took all of about 10 minutes before I heard "Grandma it was a accident" ya right, that darn pool tripped him and he landed on his butt. But grandma stood her ground on staying out of the big pool.

Evening went well, a little bump on taking a bath, after all he just played in the pool - right- but reminded him of the time spent on the gym set that has sand all around it. The contact of water was done between school and bedtime and as far as he was concerned that's all that is required. It's not his fault that he couldn't go back in the pool after the sand. Ya right - grandma put her foot down, this was MY bed he was going to put that skinny little butt in and so the bath was had.

As for bedtime it was going fairly well. I said I would sleep with him and since gr-pa gets up so early he took the sofa bed. I figured it might be a problem getting him to settle down since normally when he stays over it's a special treat and we toss out bedtimes. He wanted me to read him a book but we didn't have any kids one here (dollar store trip) so I told him a story, about a little boy named Darrius and his gr-pa who went up to his Uncle Bob's place to go fishing and how Darrius got to drive Uncle Bob's boat. But the little boy was going really fast and the fish police stopped him and gave him a ticket. Unfortunately I think the only thing this story did was get him more excited about going fishing.

Ok, now it's seriously getting late and the "mean" gr-ma had to come out. No TV, no talking, no stories, time to sleep. Oh lord the tears came and a "I miss my mommy". How can this munchkin cause so much guilt. OK, maybe just a little TV, but not very long than a promise to go right to sleep.

Morning came so early. Note to self - wear armor next time.

Mom called in the morning (one of many)and I had to confess about the tears. The reply - Oh that he does that all the time and it's usually "I miss grandma & grandpa". Why you little ------.

I did find out Darrius is nothing like his sister Anissa. Sixty minutes minimum to get that girl out the door. It takes him about 30 seconds and he's going full speed.

Guess that's it for today. I had plans of doing some yard work today but thank God it's raining cause this old grandma is in for one long nap this afternoon.

Till next time ....................night
